I remember Jim from a very early age when my brothers and I spent time at the Davenport YMCA with Dave's brother. Jim and his brother Dave were friends of ours during grade school at Hayes and we spent a great deal of time riding buses to and from west Davenport to downtown going back and forth to the old brick YMCA. This was the old one which preceded the newer one built in 1963. Dave was a quiet guy but very kind and never had an ill word for anyone. He was proud of his brother, who I understand became a brain surgeon. May Jim rest in peace and may God bless you Jim.

Jim Kabel was a really good guy. I can't say that from what I know of him that he had an easy life. I would often see him working at the hospital when I made my rounds visiting as a Chaplain.

For many years we walked to school, together

Jim was a very loyal friend and those who were his friends knew him to be a kind soul and a very good person.

May God bless and keep Jim.

Jim lived across the alley from me from the time I was 4 untill I moved away from home at 19. He was the best friend a person could have. We kept in touch over the years when I would visit my Mom He was a truely a gentle soul.

Hey, Jimbo, I hope you're looking down at us with that sweet smile you always wore. I remeber growing up with you and your brother David in the west end of Davenport. I remember swimming on the swim team with you. If everyone on that team had your heart and deternmination, we would have crushed Cedar Rapids Washington at State!!! God Bless you, my old and dear friend.
