DAVENPORT -- Funeral Services for Michael B. “Hoop” Rodriguez, Jr., a resident of Davenport, were 10 a.m. Monday, August 22, 2005, at the All Faith Chapel, Halligan McCabe De Vries Funeral Home, Davenport. Burial was in Mt. Calvary Cemetery. Visitation was Sunday, August 21, 2005, at the funeral home, where a Prayer Service was offered at 6 p.m. Michael died suddenly at home on Thursday, August 18, 2005.

Michael Ben Rodriguez Jr. was born January 13, 1951, in Davenport, the son of Michael B. Rodriguez Sr. and Alberta (Garcia) Rodriguez. He graduated from Davenport West High School in 1969; he attended Scott Community College where he received a degree in HVAC. He worked in the powerhouse at Oscar Mayer for seven years. Most recently he became a member the NTL Boilermakers Union. Mike was a loving son, brother and father who will be greatly missed by his family. Mike loved life and enjoyed spending time with his friends and loved ones. He was preceded in death by an infant son, Thomas Antonio Rodriguez, in 1978. Memorial contributions may be made to the family. Survivors include his children, Kelli Rodriguez, Davenport, and Michael Rodriguez III, Shiloh, Illinois; stepson, Bobby O'Brien, Davenport; parents, Alberta Rodriguez and Mike and Bonnie Rodriguez, all of Davenport; sisters, Monica Aguirre, Martha Adams (Gary), Becky Stender (Randy), Linda Cawiezell (Tony), Laura Holst (Terry), all of Davenport, Renee Seline (Phil), Bettendorf, and Angela Finch (Sean), Davenport; brothers, Tony Rodriguez, Ray Rodriguez and Marty Rodriguez, all of Davenport; and many loving aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews. Michael will be deeply missed by his best friend and brother, Ray.
