DAVENPORT — Enrica Teresa Maria Hodson, 59, a resident of Davenport, died March 11, 2010, at Trinity Rock Island, following an extended illness.

Services to celebrate her life will be 6:30 p.m. Monday, March 15, 2010, at the Halligan McCabe DeVries Funeral Home, 614 Main Street, Davenport. The family will greet friends Monday prior to the service from 3 p.m. until the time of service. Private family burial will be in the National Cemetery, Rock Island Arsenal.

Enrica Teresa Maria Aleksiejczyk was born December 3, 1950, just three hours after her parents arrived in Davenport by train from New York, after emigrating from Italy. Her parents were Michele and Marta (Santachiara) Aleksiejczyk.

Enrica graduated from Davenport West High School Class of 1969. She then went on to earn her associate degree from Palmer College.

She was united in marriage to Charles Hodson III, on May 27, 1972, in Davenport.

Enrica had been employed as a secretary for the tailor Willie Ekstein, worked for Hy-Vee in floral deliveries, and had been a registered child care provider. For many years she had also worked as an election poll watcher. She served as chairman for the Class of 1969 Reunion Committee, volunteered with the PTA and assisted with the Food Share Program.

Enrica enjoyed painting ceramics and was a talented seamstress; she found great satisfaction sewing blankets for family and friends.

The family would like to extend a sincere thank you to the Davenport Fire Department Station #5, Heartland Healthcare, Genesis West and Trinity Rock Island ICU.

Memorials can be made to the family.

Survivors include her husband, Charles Hodson III; a daughter, Stephanie Hodson, and a son, Charles Hodson, IV; a sister, Alma (Hinh) Do; brothers, Michael (Jill) Aleksiejczyk and Richard (Gwen) Aleksiejczyk; and numerous loving nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents. May they rest in peace.

My thoughts and prayers are with Chuck and the family. Enrica has been the drivng force of our class reunions for many years. She and Chuck kept the ball rolling and the team they put together will continue the class reunion tradition for years to come. The popularity of this website is proof that many of our classmates want to stay connected with each other.
We'll miss you, Enrica. Our committee meetings will never be the same without you!!
